This page is meant to collect and synthesise perspectives and knowledge that are relevant to making sense out of what is going on in the world today. We, the present generations, find ourselves in a world of immense and growing inequalities, ecological overshoot, absurd power relations and bursting bubbles. In short, in a world of failing structures and systems. But in order to do better for ourselves we need to find out what is going wrong, why, and what is possible instead of the political, economic, ecological and social systems that are in place now.
I will be writing reviews for books that deserve attention, linking news items, articles, documentaries and online lectures by the most insightful speakers. I will also write blog articles. On the basis of all this there is room for serious discussion. Questions, links, tips and commentary are encouraged.
Hopefully this collection will, in time, serve as a waypoint for people who, like me, want to make sense out of a system falling apart. As Slavoj Žižek turned Marx upside down:
'To change the world, we first need to interpret it!'
That is what this page is for; to help me and you to sharpen the critical perspectives that are needed to make the world a better place. We must ask what kinds of better worlds are possible, and how they are possible.
Welcome to my corner of the web, and if you like it, please share it with your friends or fellow students.
